Digital X-rays

Digital x-rays are instant, use less radiation than conventional x-rays and have wonderful detail. We are able explain treatment and conditions to our patients much better by showing it on the computer screen.

Oral Cancer Screening

We perform an oral cancer screening on every patient in our office. We do this during new patient exams and at every hygiene appointment. An oral cancer screening involves checking the lymph nodes along the anterior and posterior neck as well as intraorally. We check every aspect of the tongue, the floor of the mouth, roof of the mouth, the cheeks bilaterally, and the tonsillar area. Oral cancer is increasing worldwide and we think it is of utmost importance that as physicians of the mouth trained to spot abnormalities that we do this service free of charge.

White fillings

We discontinued the use of traditional silver fillings in the early 1990’s because of better options with bonded fillings. We use these exclusively for fillings because they are more aesthetic and more of your natural tooth can be preserved.

Customer Satisfaction

Friendly and professional staff. Great results of procedure.  Office is always clean and bright.  Hanson Dental Practice's number one priority seems to be customer satisfaction; that is quite refreshing and very much appreciated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many people do not see a dentist on a regular basis.  They only go when they have a problem. This is known as “crisis treatment” versus “preventative treatment.”  While these patients may feel they are saving money, it often ends up costing much more in dollars and time.  This is because many dental problems do not have symptoms until they reach the advanced stages of the disease process.  An example is tooth decay.  It is typical to hear, “nothing hurts… I don’t have any problems.”

Tooth decay often does not hurt until it gets close to the nerve of the tooth.  It is not uncommon to see a patient with a huge cavity who has never felt a thing.  The dentist can usually detect a cavity 3-4 years before it develops any symptoms.  This early detection can help you prevent root canal treatment.

Many diseases of the teeth and surrounding tissues cannot be seen when the dentist examines the mouth.  An x-ray examination may reveal:

  • Small areas of decay between the teeth or below existing restorations (fillings)

  • Infections in the bone

  • Periodontal (gum) disease

  • Abscesses or cysts

  • Developmental abnormalities

  • Some types of tumors
