Implants
Implants are a predictable way to replace missing teeth. Implants provide an alternative to fixed or removable bridges. In many cases an implant or multiple implants can be considered to be a more conservative treatment option than using adjacent teeth to support a bridge. The implant itself is a titanium fixture which replaces of the root of a tooth (titanium is almost universally a biocompatible material). After an implant is carefully planned out and placed, there is a 0-4 month waiting period while bone grows around the implant and integrates. At that point the implant is ready to be restored with a single crown, bridge or larger segment of teeth like a hybrid prosthesis or an implant-supported denture. Implants provide treatment options that weren't available 25 years ago. Today it is the number one choice in the replacement of lost teeth.
